For people (Quish, Haywire) learning or playing with photoshop... this is the site (that I finally found again) that I used to learn a lot more, a lot better, than the books or classes explain things http://www.earthboundlight.com/look at the photo tips section and he goes through camera and software very well, and very thoroughly. They also explain some camera lingo that made no sense at all to me for a while for f stop specifically go to http://www.uscoles.com/fstop.htm | | Monday, April 16th, 2007 | | 5:53 pm |

haven't posted in a while, but this was noteworthy
So at a business meeting the other day part of the presentation involved McDonalds, founded / organized by Dick and Mac McDonald... At that point I burst out laughing, inappropriately... when asked why I simply said that I was very glad they named the burger after the right brother, and wouldn't say any more than that... Half the room laughed, half the room was confused | | Tuesday, January 16th, 2007 | | 9:37 am |

This looked interesting
I started a sauceror in KoL. The game appealed to my sense of humor before, but I just couldn't be bothered until now. If anyone has any newbie suggestions or explanations I would appreciate them. For now I've just got a 4 lb mosquito and I'm at level 2, with some wooden stakes and a bakers hat. | | Wednesday, June 14th, 2006 | | 3:14 pm |

Fistful of dollars
So, I've got a fistful of dollars, and I've got 2 places I could stick it, no that's NOT one of them... We want/ need to buy a comprehensive graphics editing package. In the running are Adobe CS 2 premium for windows and CorelDraw graphics suite x3. some of the factors are: From what I've read (which is still woefully little) Corel can do everything Adobe can do, plus some (photo paint is apparently more capable than photoshop). Photoshop is the industry standard for more industries than Corel, but Corel does have the market cornered for several. For a variety of reasons I need to be as compatible and capable as possible with whatever files our current and future customers bring in. Adobe runs about 1200 dollars for the fully licensed version for me to use for my business. Corel runs about 400 dollars or less (or a lot less in a couple of instances) for the same. Learning curve is not an issue, I'm relatively knowledgable about print, and print files, but not the graphics arts/ creation side of the work. At this point I'm willing to learn either, but I don't have the money or time to buy both or experiment with both. If anyone has any positive or helpful comments, or even any specific limitations/ annoyances related to either suite please let me know. Thanks all Current Mood: contemplativeCurrent Music: the twitch of my left eye from my scattered brain | | Monday, March 27th, 2006 | | 12:26 pm |
Braainsss...
So I started three Urban Dead characters... two necro techs, and one zombie, just to get the hang of it. I'm only considering one of necros real, the other two are just for getting used to the game. They are El Amenoepe, Soilent Dan, and RapidHart... you can guess which one is the zombie if you'd like. I'll post some numbers later on, and no I'm not using them towards the same goals. | | Monday, March 13th, 2006 | | 4:40 pm |

Dumb question?
How do you reload the operating system on a workstation (dell gx270) with no cd, or floppy drives. It has USB coming out the ass, but nothing else. If I buy a USB optical drive, will it boot from that? Thats all, thanks in advance for not calling me any more of an idiot than I feel like. I'll try to post something substantive at some point, but it will probably be too long, or frenetic, or both. Catch ya later | | Thursday, January 12th, 2006 | | 5:32 pm |
I know I don't update much (uh.. at all) but this needed sharing
A little girl asked her Mom, "Mom, may I take the dog for a walk around the block?" Mom replies, "No, because she is in heat." "What's that mean?" asked the child. "Go ask your father. I think he's in the garage." The little girl goes to the garage and says, "Dad, may I take Belle for a walk around the block? I asked Mom, but she said the dog was in heat, and to come to you." Dad said, "Bring Belle over here." He took a rag, soaked it with gasoline, and scrubbed the dog's backside with it to disguise the scent, and said "OK, you can go now, but keep Belle on the leash and only go one time round the block." The little girl left and returned a few minutes later with no dog on the leash. Surprised, Dad asked, "Where's Belle?" The little girl said, "She ran out of gas about halfway down the block, so another dog is pushing her home." | | Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005 | | 6:40 am |
T-Minus three days and counting...
So we're starting our move this Saturday through Sunday... Last chance to see us before we are gone (we have to leave either late monday or early tuesday morning next week) I'm sorry I haven't really had a chance to catch up with everyone and say good byes or have any last minute parties or anything... but the cards just didn't work out that way when our move got advanced two weeks Anyway, the moving info is in our old posts and in email... we're starting probably a little after noon time on sat and sun so as not to be working into but instead out of the hottest part of the day | | Tuesday, May 24th, 2005 | | 4:15 am |
Cybernetics
I need to get cybernetic optic nerves/eyes. That way I can get a cranial TiVo and sensor out or skip the shitty parts, like giant space ads from qedrakmar's post... hell, if we could do that, then can we make a giant geosynched TV for everyone to watch and drool I think I saw this in a Bill Plympton cartoon that was as disturbing as I expect any plymptoon to be |
